Ping is a specialist in modelling and system identification. He completed his PhD in control engineering in The University of Sheffield in 2003. Since then he has worked extensively in the areas of model-based fault diagnosis, condition monitoring, complex system modelling and identification on a wide range of projects related to railway vehicle systems, helicopter, water distribution networks and gas turban engine. His role in the MAPP team at Sheffield is to develop data-driven methods for AM modelling in general and apply these for correlating the material response to the processing conditions in AM in particular, so as to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the quality of the parts produced and the processing conditions/or machine settings.
