After obtaining a 1st Class Honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Metallurgy, Oliver initially followed an industrial career working for Rolls-Royce plc. He later re-joined the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Sheffield to work as a Research Associate in Additive Manufacturing (AM). His primary focus under the MAPP consortium is process definition and control for Directed Energy Deposition (DED) AM in 5-axis. In addition to AM, Oliver's interests lie in machining, alloy design, thermodynamic modelling and all things titanium.
