UCL Mechanical Engineering is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to be based at Harwell Campus.

The role will be to develop correlative imaging techniques and control algorithms for additive manufacturing (AM). Using ultrafast synchrotron X-ray imaging and correlative optical, infrared and digital image correlation (DIC) techniques, the post holder will develop and apply data fusion, feature Engineering, and machine learning for control and optimisation of AM processes at the microstructural level.

They will work closely with academic and industrial collaborators, e.g. Rolls-Royce plc, from MAPP. The goal will be to develop novel materials, techniques and control algorithms that achieve highly repeatable properties in primarily metal AM components.

The position is available from January 2022 and funded for 2 years initially with a possible extension. Click here to apply/for further information.
