A great opportunity has arisen in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for a Research Associate to join MAPP.

At The University of Sheffield, MAPP draws on expertise from across the Departments of Materials Science and Engineering, Automatic Control and Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering together with our Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

The role involves working on the research and development of powder-based additive manufacturing processes including aspects of process definition, control, defect formation, characterisation and materials science over a range of material types and AM processes (for example, novel processes such as Diode Area Melting and High Speed Sintering).

The post holder will be expected to collaborate with other Sheffield-based academics and researchers as well as key stakeholders in industry and academia (in particular Leeds and Manchester).

They will be expected to work effectively as part of a MAPP team, conduct a full literature review and report their findings through presentations and technical reports. The role may involve regular travel to partner sites.

The closing date for applications is October 21st 2020. Click here for more information.
